YUE process

Phase 1 - Acquisition

The YUE Management Team acts as the first line of contact for potential clients. In this phase, we set-up a preliminary consultation to discuss goals, deliverables, and budget. We then craft a customized proposal for our client. When all parties are satisfied with the proposal, we continue to the next phase of building our specialized consulting team.

Urban Mobility & Transport

  • We support clients in addressing complex mobility challenges through research, analysis, and strategy. From sustainable transport systems to user behaviour and policy design, we develop evidence-based solutions that help cities move more efficiently, equitably, and with lower environmental impact.

  • Tradable Mobility Credits Research
YUE collaborated with the AMS Smart Urban Mobility team on a cross-national study of tradable mobility credits, examining how pricing structures, allocation systems, and behavioural factors shape user choices and policy effectiveness.

Design

  • We apply research-driven design methods to develop thoughtful and practical solutions for real-world challenges. From concept development and prototyping to testing and refinement, we support projects that require both creativity and technical understanding.

  • Leaf Clip Prototyping for Jan Ingenhousz Institute
Working through a research-by-design approach, YUE developed and tested multiple prototype iterations for attaching photosynthesis sensors to crop leaves in field conditions. The final outcome was a 3D-printed clip designed for quick application, minimal leaf damage, and reliable sensor performance.

Urban Sustainability & Climate

  • We help organisations and municipalities tackle climate and sustainability challenges in the built environment. Our work ranges from emissions assessment and circular construction to material use and climate-conscious design, translating complex data into practical tools and actionable insights.

  • Carbon Emission Tool for the Municipality of Amsterdam
To support Amsterdam’s carbon reduction ambitions, YUE helped improve a construction emissions tracking tool by expanding its material database, improving accuracy, and making it more user-friendly. The result was a streamlined tool that enables municipal staff to track carbon emissions across construction material categories.

Data & Spatial Analysis

  • We use data-driven and spatial methods to better understand urban systems and support informed decision-making. With expertise in GIS, mapping, and analytical tools such as Python, ArcGIS, and QGIS, we turn complex datasets into clear insights, visualisations, and strategic recommendations.

  • Emissions Data Integration for Construction Projects
YUE strengthened the underlying database of a municipal carbon emission tool by integrating reliable CO₂ data for materials such as concrete and asphalt. Combined with user research, this resulted in a more robust and usable data-driven tool for project evaluation.

Creative Facilitation & Co-Creation

  • We design and lead collaborative processes that bring together diverse stakeholders around complex urban issues. Through workshops, participatory methods, and creative problem-solving sessions, we help clients generate ideas, build alignment, and translate discussion into concrete actions.

  • Stakeholder-Centred Tool Development
In projects such as the Carbon Emission Tool, YUE incorporates stakeholder interviews and user feedback into the development process to ensure that solutions are practical, relevant, and aligned with client needs.

Urban Strategy

  • We support the development of integrated urban strategies that respond to social, spatial, and environmental challenges. By combining systems thinking with applied research, we help clients shape long-term visions, strategic frameworks, and place-based interventions for healthier, more sustainable, and more inclusive cities.

  • Green Tower Educational Route
For the Green Tower project, YUE explored how an educational route could position the building within a broader urban context, connecting sustainability, innovation, and community perspectives. The project translated complex urban themes into an integrated strategic concept for public engagement and learning.
